Biography
Dr. Stavros Hadjisolomou is Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Director of The Soft Intelligence Laboratory at the American University of Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Psychology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York, and a B.A. from Brooklyn College, CUNY. His research interests include assessment in higher education, cross-cultural psychology, and AI in higher education, with AI publications in Intersection: A Journal at the Intersection of Assessment and Learning. His international collaborative psychology research has appeared in Nature Communications, American Sociological Review, and Communications Psychology. He received a 2025 international best paper award for a co-authored Nature Communications paper on psychological well-being in Europe. At AUK, he founded the AI Community of Practice and serves as Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and Chair of the MSCHE Self-Study Steering Committee. He was lead author of the report supporting AUK's candidacy application. AUK was granted candidacy in March 2026 with no requirements and four commendations. He previously served as Associate Dean for General Education and for Assessment and Accreditation.
