Belal Gharaibeh

Associate Professor-Systems Engineering; Manager-Office of Research and Grants

Biography

Dr. Belal Gharaibeh is an Associate Professor of Systems Engineering and Manager of the Office of Research and Grants (ORG) at the American University of Kuwait. He has more than 15 years of experience in academic leadership, research administration, advanced manufacturing, and engineering education.

  

As Manager of ORG, Dr. Gharaibeh works to strengthen AUK’s research capacity by supporting faculty proposal development, facilitating interdisciplinary research, and expanding access to external funding opportunities. A central focus of his leadership is cultivating researcher-to-researcher relationships and connecting AUK faculty with scholars, universities, funding organizations, and industry partners. Through these individual academic connections, he seeks to develop sustainable institutional partnerships and internationally funded research initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for both faculty and students.

   

His research focuses on smart and additive manufacturing, 3D-printed polymers and medical applications, artificial intelligence and predictive process modeling, nondestructive evaluation, and sustainable energy systems. His recent work includes AI-driven modeling of fused-deposition manufacturing, 3D-printed medical spare parts, radiation effects on additively manufactured polymers, and engineering education initiatives supporting women and youth empowerment.

  

Dr. Gharaibeh has led or contributed to projects supported by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives, and the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has also developed research collaborations with Dartmouth College, MIT, and other international academic and industry partners. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and is an ASQ-certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
