Aliaa M. Abou-Ali

Assistant Professor-Systems Engineering

Biography

Dr. Aliaa M. Abou-Ali is an assistant professor of systems engineering at the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) at the American University of Kuwait (AUK). She earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Khalifa University in 2018, focusing on the mechanical behavior of polymeric cellular solids fabricated through additive manufacturing. She holds an M.Sc. and B.Sc. degree (with Distinction) in Production Engineering from Alexandria University (Egypt), earned in 2011 and 2007, respectively, where she is also an assistant professor (on leave).

She has contributed to the field of advanced manufacturing through her research and previously served as a post-doctoral fellow and research assistant at the Advanced Digital & Additive Manufacturing (ADAM) Centre at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her research encompasses additive manufacturing, cellular and lattice structures, mechanical characterization, finite element analysis, and sustainable manufacturing. More recently, her work has expanded to include AI-assisted engineering design and digital manufacturing, with applications in the oil and gas industry and engineering education. She has led and contributed to funded research projects supported by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and AUK, including research on polymer-based 3D-printed components, AI-assisted PCB fabrication, and hydrogen injection for improving combustion efficiency. Her current research interests focus on integrating additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and sustainable engineering solutions across diverse industrial and educational applications.
